Remember Cohasset Grape Soda? ๐Ÿ‡ Vintage NOS 1950s Cork-Lined Bottle Cap

Size: 1 1/4"

๐Ÿ‡ A grape soda from Youngstown, Ohio with a chief in a feathered headdress right on the cap. This one was never put on a bottle, so the skirt is still uncrimped and the cork liner is still inside.

๐Ÿ” What's on it

Cream on a deep purple top: a Native American man's head in a feathered headdress set inside the big sweeping C of Cohasset, with GRAPE SODA underneath. Turn it on its side and the skirt is printed with the bottler's line, ending YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO. Inside is the original cork liner.

๐Ÿญ Youngstown and the Name

Youngstown was a steel town in Ohio's Mahoning Valley, and like most cities back then it had its own local bottlers putting up their own flavors for the neighborhood groceries. Cohasset was one of the Youngstown names. The word itself is Algonquian. Cohasset, Massachusetts takes its name from the Massachusett word Conahasset, which may mean "long rocky place" or "fishing promontory," and the chief on the cap goes right along with the name.

๐Ÿงท The Cork Liner

Crown caps had cork liners for decades. Molded plastic liners started coming in around 1955 to 1957, and cork slowly gave way after that. Collectors date these Cohasset caps to the 1950s, and the cork liner fits right in.

Return shipping we sort out between us, case by case. I don't make this difficult.

If something arrives damaged, or it isn't what I said it was, send me a photo within 48 hours and I'll make it right.

Email info@vintageantiquesgifts.com or call 802-356-9872 โ€” that's me answering, not a call center.

The only things I can't take back are custom or special-order pieces and gift cards.
