Cigar labels are a window to the past, showcasing the essence of vintage advertising. They boast the exquisite graphics that Lithography offers, a charm that modern printing can't replicate. Regrettably, this art was lost after the 1920s, making these labels a precious piece of history.
My pictures seriously don't do it justice. These had to be done on heavy paper stock, which kept them vibrant and new-looking for a long time.
Most of these artists were very good but desperate for work during that era. They got paid very little and received no recognition for their work. Unfortunately, most of these artists will remain unknown, but we can keep their art alive forever.
