Very Rare Antique Rutland Washington Railroad Stock Certificate 1850s, signed by Erastus Corning whom Corning, New York is named after.

11 1/4" x 7.5" ~

Usually, we don't check the signatures on stocks but this one had notes regarding it and the significance. This is a very rare stock from a company that was only in existence from 1847 - 1865 and operated between Rutland Vermont and Eagle Bridge in Rensselaer County, New York. Ok, now the really cool thing is this was signed on the back as trustee by Erastus Corning. He was a very successful robber baron and politician who seemed to have his hand in everything. He was very big into railroads and must have seen potential in this one. Well, we can't all bat 1000, can we? Anyways he was Mayor of Albany, a United States Congressman during the Civil War, and the city of Corning, New York is named after him. This guy did enough for 3 men and you can read about it all here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erastus_Corning

This is a hard-to-find stock definitely take advantage of my prices while I have these available.

Imagine hanging this antique historic collectible on your wall as home decor in any room! Stock certificates are another thing that is limited in supply and once they are gone all into museums and collections they will be hard to get. They are such historic documents with so much history behind them. The first stock certificate was issued in 1606 by the Dutch East India Company. 407 years of history later the Walt Disney Company issued one of the last paper stock certificates from a major corporation in 2013.

My pictures seriously don't do it justice.
