Vintage Max Headroom C - C - C - Catch the Wave Coke Coca-Cola Poster 1986

17" x 14"

Look what I found in the movie posters. I love Max Headroom I used to think he was so cool! He first appeared in the UK in 1985 in a short movie and two days later had his own show. He was known for his biting commentary and wit. Many viewers thought he was actually an AI and they didn't do much to dispel this notion. He instantly blew up and became the global spokesperson for New Coke.

A neat fact of many about this character. on November 22, 1987, a person wearing a Max Headroom mask and costume hijacked two television stations in Chicago, Illinois twice. Each signal interruption was accompanied by the unidentified person speaking with distorted audio. The hacker made references to Max Headroom's endorsement of Coca-Cola, the TV series Clutch Cargo, WGN anchor Chuck Swirsky, and "all the greatest world newspaper nerds" (a reference to WGN's call letters, which stand for "World's Greatest Newspaper").

The first "Max Headroom incident" took place for 25 seconds during the sports segment of WGN-TV's 9:00 p.m. news broadcast. Then approximately two hours later, the second hijacking occurred for about 90 seconds during PBS affiliate WTTW's broadcast of Doctor Who ("The Horror of Fang Rock"). The second "Max Headroom incident" video ended with the person apparently exposing their buttocks before being spanked with a flyswatter. The people responsible for these acts have never been caught or identified.

Amazing vibrant colors and character! Very minor edge wear if any. Amazing display piece that will be shipped professionally in a mailing tube.

Obviously, they aren't making any more of these so they are very highly collectible. Make sure to grab one before the limited supply is all in galleries or museums.

Imagine this vintage advertising hanging on your wall as home decor in any room instead of in a museum!
The Vintage Max Headroom C - C - C - Catch the Wave Coke Coca Cola Poster 1986 is evocative, to say the least, but that's why you're drawn to it in the first place.
