It comes sealed in a clear bag with a tissue insert printed MADE IN CHINA.

🧊 Why It Says "Classic"

That one word on the keychain is a famous piece of business history. On April 23, 1985, the Coca-Cola Company changed its formula and launched what everybody called New Coke, and the country revolted. The company hotline, 1-800-GET-COKE, went from about 400 calls a day to over 1,500. On July 11, 1985, just 79 days later, Coca-Cola held a press conference and announced the original formula was coming back. Peter Jennings of ABC News interrupted General Hospital with a special bulletin, Senator David Pryor called it "a meaningful moment in U.S. history" on the floor of the Senate, and the hotline got 31,600 calls in two days.

The original came back under the name Coca-Cola Classic, and the new one stayed on as "Coke" until it was renamed Coke II in 1990. Bottles and cans kept the word Classic until January 2009, when the company started dropping it. So that little word CLASSIC on this keychain is a leftover from the great New Coke fight.

It's a fun little gift for a Coca-Cola collector, a football fan, or anybody who remembers the day they brought back the real thing.

🔎 More From The Vintage & Antique Gifts Archive

Vintage 1990s Looney Tunes Pin 📌 Daffy Duck, Unopened in Package!

Vintage 1998 Coca‑Cola Bottle Cap Yo‑Yo 🪀 – New in Package Coke Collectible

Vintage 1990s Tampa Bay Devil Rays Keychain 🐟 Tag Express MLB Key Tag NOS Sealed

https://vintageantiquesgifts.com/products/vintage-nfl-coke-coca-cola-keychain-1990s-unopened-package-treasures
