They made the jump to talkies without missing a step, won an Academy Award for The Music Box in 1932, and made 107 films together. Their last was Atoll K in 1951, and they kept doing stage shows in Europe into 1954. Hardy died in 1957, and Laurel, who got an honorary Oscar for his comedy, died in 1965.

🎨 How Larry Harmon Got Them

Larry Harmon is the same fellow who made Bozo the Clown a household name. In 1961 he went to Stan Laurel and his wife Eda about an animated series, and to Hardy's widow Lucille for the rights to their likenesses. Laurel thought he was signing for an animated pilot for NBC, and Harmon ended up with a lot more than that. Hanna-Barbera made the cartoons, 156 short episodes that premiered in September 1966, with Harmon himself doing Stan's voice and Jim McGeorge doing Ollie. Harmon licensed Laurel and Hardy merchandise too, and the story goes that Laurel only found out about one of the toys, a plastic coin bank with his face on it, when a fan mailed him a picture of it. These stickers are part of that Harmon licensing.

📏 Details

Vintage 1975 Laurel and Hardy patriotic sticker pair, two designs

Be Proud of America and Stars and Stripes Forever, © Larry Harmon Pictures Corp.

Each about 3 1/4" x 2", red and blue on cream, unused with the backing on, New Old Stock

The old adhesive may want a little help if you plan to stick them; most folks frame them

You'll get one pair like the ones shown

🖼️ Frame them for a home theater or a den, or hand them to the classic comedy fan who can still do the Ollie tie twiddle.

🔎 More From The Vintage & Antique Gifts Archive

Vintage 1975 Bozo the Clown Bicentennial Stickers 🤡 Larry Harmon Pictures Corp Patriotic Americana Pair

Vintage 1975 Popeye Bicentennial Stickers 🎆 King Features Patriotic Set

Vintage 1975 Bicentennial Dick Tracy Patriotic Stickers 🕵️ Chester Gould Liberty Bell Flag Chicago Tribune News Syndicate Set of 2

https://vintageantiquesgifts.com/products/vintage-patriotic-bicentennial-laurel-hardy-stickers-1975-treasures
