It has never been taken out of the bag, put together or flown.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003e🏷️ What's Printed on It\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCoca-Cola, in white script on the two red discs on the wing, each with a contour bottle, and again on the red tailplane (mostly tucked behind the fuselage in the bag)\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eMADE IN CHINA, molded into the red plastic\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e© GIFTCO, INC. 2000 on the bar code label on the back of the wing, with the SCHOOL DESIGNS logo, a small Made in China line and a 21 in a circle\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003e🎁 Who Made It\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThat little label on the back says Giftco, Inc. made it in 2000. Giftco made items for fundraising programs, and it carried licenses for pieces like this Coca-Cola glider and, in the early 2000s, a whole line of Muppet products, from coin sorters and car tins to piggy banks, magnets and watches.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eGiftco's own trademark filings tell you what kind of company it was. Back in 1961 it filed for SANTA'S SECRET SHOP (for adult sewing kits, of all things), and through the 1990s it registered names like the Children's Secret Store, the Young Shoppers Club, the Holiday Wish Store and Holiday Town, for fundraising in schools by selling gifts. Its 1995 filing spells it out: giftware, mugs, toys and novelties distributed to schools and other youth organizations. And that SCHOOL DESIGNS logo on this glider's label is Giftco's own registered mark, first used in April 1995 and registered in 1998 for charitable fund-raising in schools by selling giftware. A lot of us remember those little holiday shops set up in the school gym, where you got to pick out presents for the family with your own pocket money, and this is the kind of toy that went on those tables. Giftco even filed for a MILLENNIUM 2000 collection back in 1997, getting ready for the very year this glider came out.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003e🥤 That Famous Script\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Coca-Cola name and the script on this card both came from Frank Mason Robinson, John Pemberton's bookkeeper, back in 1885. He picked Spencerian script, which was the fancy formal handwriting everybody in America was taught at the time, and more than a hundred years later it was still going on toys like this one.
