Description

If you’ve ever tossed a box of Dramamine into your carry‑on, this little label shows where that story began. This is an original 1949–1950s Dramamine label from Waggoner Drug Co., a long‑time Main Street pharmacy in Klamath Falls, Oregon. 🏥💊

The label is a compact 2 1/2" x 2" and would originally have wrapped around a small bottle of Dramamine tablets dispensed by the pharmacist. It carries the DRAMAMINE name, dosage instructions and warnings for dimenhydrinate tablets, and Waggoner’s “COR. 9TH & MAIN STS. KLAMATH FALLS, ORE.” imprint. It’s the kind of practical, no‑nonsense design you expect from a hardworking neighborhood drug store in the early years of modern over‑the‑counter medicine.

Dramamine’s history starts just before this label’s time. Researchers at Johns Hopkins tested dimenhydrinate as an antihistamine and discovered that it also prevented seasickness; by 1949, G.D. Searle introduced Dramamine to the market, and newspapers quickly reported on the new motion‑sickness pill. Through the 1950s it became the go‑to travel companion for cruises, long car trips, train rides, and early airline flights.

Waggoner Drug Co. brought that breakthrough to everyday people in Klamath Falls. The Waggoner family operated a Main Street drug store for many years and later played a role in local retail development, making their name a familiar one in town history. This label is a tiny survivor from those years—a reminder of a time when you went to a single trusted counter for prescriptions, home remedies, and advice before setting off on a trip.

This piece is NOS—unused vintage stock that never made it onto a bottle. The warm paper tone, green printing, and simple border give it a timeless look that works beautifully framed, tucked into a printer’s tray, or displayed with antique pill bottles, tins, and pharmacy signs.

Approximate size: 2 1/2" x 2"
Era: 1949–1950s, early Dramamine period
Origin: Waggoner Drug Co., Klamath Falls, Oregon

It’s a fantastic addition for collectors of vintage pharmacy and medical advertising, Oregon and Pacific Northwest history, travel memorabilia, or anyone who loves small paper artifacts with outsized stories behind them. ✨🖼️
