🔓 Ever Heard of a Movie Poster With a Roger Corman Connection?

This one has it. This vivid Belgian theatrical poster is for The Crucified Girls of San Ramon (Italian title Io Monaca... per Tre Carogne e Sette Peccatrici, French title La Nonne et les 7 Pécheresses), a 1972 Italian-German women-in-prison film released in the US as The Big Bust Out. Issued through Belgian distributor Cosmopolis Films, this is New Old Stock: unused, unhung, straight from the distributor's own paper archive.

This 22" x 14" poster carries Belgium's own signature oversized, boldly graphic format, distinct from the Italian, French, and American campaigns for the same film. Directed by Ernst Ritter von Theumer, the film follows seven women who escape a high-security prison only to fall into the hands of a white-slavery ring.

🎬 A Genuine Piece of Corman-Era Exploitation History

The film's US distribution rights were purchased by Roger Corman for his New World Pictures — the studio that shaped an entire generation of American drive-in and grindhouse cinema — and Corman's team trimmed roughly 20 minutes for the American release. That kind of hands-on repackaging was a Corman trademark, and it's exactly the sort of production trivia that gives a poster like this real collector weight beyond its artwork alone.

🇧🇪 Cosmopolis Films & the Belgian Format

Belgium is the only country that developed its own dedicated poster size and house style for imported films rather than reprinting the originating country's art, and Cosmopolis Films was one of the distributors behind that tradition. This poster is part of a larger holding of unused Cosmopolis Films stock that came to light in a 2007 find, when the distributor's own paper archive was dispersed — what's here is what survived, with no reprint run behind it.

🖼️ Display Ideas

  • 🖼️ Frame it in a slim black frame to let the bold artwork carry the room
  • 🎬 Hang it alongside other 1970s Eurocult or grindhouse memorabilia
  • 📼 Pair it with a Roger Corman or New World Pictures collection
  • 🛋️ Anchor a man cave or game room with a genuine piece of grindhouse history
  • 🎁 Gift it to the exploitation-film collector who already tracks Corman-era distribution history

🎁 Who Collects These

Eurocult and women-in-prison genre collectors, Roger Corman and New World Pictures completists, and Belgian poster specialists are the natural audience for a piece with this much cross-genre, cross-border history behind it.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is this film also known as?

It circulated internationally under several titles, including The Big Bust Out in the US, La Nonne et les 7 Pécheresses in France, and its original Italian title.

What's the Roger Corman connection?

Corman's New World Pictures bought the US distribution rights and trimmed about 20 minutes for the American release — a common practice for Corman's imported genre acquisitions.

Is this poster an original or a reprint?

This is an original piece of New Old Stock from the Belgian theatrical release, not a modern reprint.

Where did this poster come from?

It's part of a 2007 find of unused Cosmopolis Films distributor stock out of Belgium.

Why does the Belgian poster look different from the Italian or American one?

Belgian distributors like Cosmopolis Films commissioned their own original local artwork rather than reusing the source country's campaign, giving Belgian releases their own distinct visual identity.
