Paul Scea and Leslie Lewis opened Denison’s Wenatchee Branch in 1924 after a freeze wiped out most of the company’s fruit crop in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. In a 1989 interview, Mr. Scea recalled the going rate in those early days of a box of apples was 10 cents. They were a prominent fruit-packing company known for its high-quality apples, and they used eye-catching crate labels, such as the Denison's Crest and Redman brands, to market their produce.
