Description

Step into the glamorous world of the 1930s with this exquisite antique vintage crate label from Tavares, Florida! This extraordinary piece of Florida citrus history is a true collector's dream, capturing the essence of an era when every detail was crafted with meticulous precision. The label's centerpiece is a breathtaking image of a woman exuding vintage beauty and charm, her allure captivating from every angle. As your eyes trace the deliberately plain, flat design, you'll be transported back to the golden age of American advertising art.

This Rita-Anne Crate Label isn't just a piece of paper – it's a portal to the past, brimming with character and timeless appeal. Imagine the stories it could tell of Florida citrus groves — the sheet says only 'Florida Citrus Fruit' and names no single fruit and the bustling fruit trade of the early 20th century! As a rare collectible, it offers a tangible connection to the flat, plain-spoken poster style Florida citrus houses used in the 1930s that swept the nation, influencing everything from architecture to graphic design.

Measuring 6 3/4" x 3", this label is in remarkable condition for its age. While there's very minor edge wear, it's practically imperceptible when displayed. But don't take our word for it – examine the detailed pictures and see for yourself the exceptional preservation of this antique gift.

The lithography process used to create this label is a testament to the artistry of a bygone era. Even with today's advanced printing technologies, the richness and depth of these vintage prints remain unparalleled. It's no wonder that museums and art institutes dedicate entire galleries to these miniature masterpieces!

As more collectors recognize the historical and artistic value of these labels, the available supply is dwindling rapidly. Once these treasures find their way into private collections or gallery displays, acquiring them will become increasingly challenging. Don't miss this opportunity to own a piece of American advertising history!

Why relegate such a stunning piece of vintage advertising to a museum when it could be the focal point of your home decor? Imagine this beauty gracing your living room, kitchen, or study, sparking conversations and admiration from guests. It's not just decor; it's a statement piece that brings the excitement and elegance of the 1930s into your modern space.

🏷️ What Is Printed on This Label

Read off the sheet itself, verbatim — this is the label's own printed text, not a description of it:

  • RITA-ANNE
  • BRAND
  • Florida Citrus Fruit
  • LAKE REGION PACKING ASSN.
  • TAVARES ★ FLORIDA

LAKE REGION PACKING ASSN. of Tavares, Florida is printed on the label and had never appeared in a title or a body on any island — the packer attribution was simply missing. The town and state are separated by a small olive-yellow five-pointed star.

No fruit is illustrated anywhere on this citrus label — not an orange, not a grapefruit, not a leaf. The whole picture is a circular portrait roundel at the left: a smiling dark-haired young woman in a dark jacket over a white pointed collar with a small beaded necklace, set against a flat chrome-yellow disc.

That portrait is a photographic halftone printed in a warm two-colour orange/brown register — the dot screen is plainly visible at full resolution — not a painted chromolithographic illustration. Four flat ink colours on navy plus one screened photograph is the whole design, and it is worth describing accurately rather than as 'intricate'.

There is no printed date and no printer's imprint on the sheet. The 1930s dating rests on the trade record and the owner's notes.
