⚽ The voice of Martin Tyler. The stadium clock reading 93:20. The ball in Sergio Agüero's foot. The net. And the three words that became the most-replayed moment in English Premier League broadcasting history: “AGUEROOO!” – May 13, 2012. Manchester City against Queens Park Rangers at the Etihad. City needing to win. City trailing 2–1 in the 89th minute. Then Edin Dzéko equalizing. Then, in injury time, Agüero collecting the ball just outside the penalty area, driving into the box, and finishing with a technique that had delivered in exactly this kind of pressure situation dozens of times before – except that this time the entire Premier League title was riding on the shot. It went in. Manchester City won 3–2. The title was theirs. The scream that followed still plays on repeat in the minds of every person who watched it live. 🌟

⚽ Sergio Leonel Agüero del Castillo was born June 2, 1988, in Quilmes, a suburb of Buenos Aires in the Buenos Aires Province of Argentina – the seventh of six brothers and sisters, in a household where the love of football was simply the water that everything else swam in. He earned the nickname “Kun” as a child, from a Japanese cartoon character he resembled, and the nickname stuck with a permanence that eventually became the name by which the entire football world knew him: Kun Agüero, the little striker from Buenos Aires who could do things with a football that most professional players practice their entire careers hoping to approach. ⭐

⚽ He began his professional career at Independiente in Argentina at 15 years old – the youngest player ever to appear in the Argentine Primera División at the time – and moved to Atlético Madrid in Spain, where he spent five seasons becoming one of the most dangerous strikers in La Liga before Manchester City paid the equivalent of £38 million to bring him to England in the summer of 2011. What followed was one of the great club careers of his generation: 260 goals in 390 appearances for Manchester City, five Premier League titles, six League Cups, one FA Cup, and the identity of a striker so thoroughly associated with a club that the Etihad Stadium features a statue of him outside its gates. ⚽

⚽ The Argentina national team jersey that Agüero signed represents the other dimension of his career – the sky blue and white vertical stripes of the Albiceleste, the national team jersey that is among the most recognized and celebrated uniforms in all of world football. Agüero played 101 matches for Argentina and scored 41 international goals, becoming one of the most productive strikers in La Albiceleste history. He was part of the Argentina squad that won the Copa América 2021 – which gave Argentina its first major international tournament victory in 28 years, the first Copa América under Lionel Messi, and the tournament that preceded Argentina's 2022 World Cup triumph by a year. The Copa América win was the international honor Agüero was able to celebrate before the cardiac arrhythmia that ended his career in December 2021. 🏆

⚽ He announced his retirement with a press conference in Barcelona that brought him to tears and brought the football world to a standstill. He was 33. He had achieved more than most players achieve in a complete career. He had scored one of the most famous goals ever scored. He had worn the Argentina blue in 101 international appearances. And he had to stop. Every piece of authentic Agüero memorabilia from the career that ended that December carries the particular weight of a talent that gave everything it had and then was taken from the game before its time. Beckett Authentication Services – BAS – confirms this signature as genuine to the standard that collectors worldwide rely upon. 🔐
