🏈 On January 2, 1982, in the Orange Bowl in Miami, Kellen Winslow gave the NFL one of its most iconic individual playoff performances. In a game between the San Diego Chargers and the Miami Dolphins that has been called “The Epic in Miami,” Winslow caught 13 passes for 166 yards and a touchdown, blocked a potential game-winning field goal in overtime, and was so physically spent by the end of the game that he had to be carried off the field by his teammates – a haunting image that became one of the most reproduced photographs in NFL history. The Chargers won in overtime, Winslow was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Year, and the game became the standard against which great individual playoff performances are still measured. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995, and this 1983 Topps card – one year after that defining playoff run – captures him at the peak of a career that redefined what the tight end position could be in the NFL.
