🌟 Hamlet, North Carolina — NC State Wolfpack — The Making of Philadelphia's Most Explosive Receiver

Mike Quick was born May 22, 1959, in Hamlet, North Carolina — a city in Richmond County in the south-central part of the state known as a railroad center and the boyhood community of some of North Carolina's most celebrated athletes. Quick played his college football at North Carolina State University in Raleigh under head coach Monte Kiffin, where his combination of speed and technical route-running made him one of the most attractive wide receiver prospects in the 1982 NFL Draft class. The Philadelphia Eagles selected Quick in the first round (20th overall) of the 1982 NFL Draft — a premium first-round investment in the WR position that paid dividends almost immediately. Quick arrived in Philadelphia and became the Eagles' primary deep threat within his first seasons, working with quarterbacks Ron Jaworski and later Randall Cunningham. The 1988 Topps #237 PSA 8 NEAR MINT is the high-grade vintage card of the Hamlet kid during his peak Eagles seasons. Condition: NOS.

Philadelphia Eagles — Veterans Stadium — Five Pro Bowls — The Injuries That Cut the Career Short

Mike Quick made five Pro Bowl rosters with the Philadelphia Eagles (1983, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988) — a sustained excellence at the position that established him as one of the premier wide receivers in the NFC during the decade. His combination of his first-step quickness off the line, his route-running discipline, and his ability to generate separation against elite cornerbacks made him the most complete receiver in the Eagles' system. Quick averaged over 17 yards per reception across his career — a number that speaks to his role as the Eagles' primary big-play target and the receiver Randall Cunningham searched for on throws downfield. Knee injuries ultimately shortened Quick's career, and he retired in 1990 before transitioning to a broadcasting career with the Eagles radio network. The 1988 Topps #237 PSA 8 NEAR MINT captures Quick at his athletic peak. Condition: NOS.
