The Baltimore Transit Company (BTCO), which started providing streetcar and bus service in Baltimore in 1935, was a privately owned company. It was the successor to the old United Railways and Electric Company, formed in 1899 to consolidate and operate Baltimore's streetcar lines. This company had many firsts, like the first commercially operated electric streetcar in America, which began operation in Baltimore on August 10, 1885. Baltimore was also the site of the first elevated electric streetcar line in the USA.
In the late 1940s the streetcar system was being dismantled across the country in favor of buses, this was known as the Great American Streetcar Scandal which GM had a large part in to try to convert all these services to their buses. The last streetcar ran in 1963. Between 1940-1959, Baltimore Transit also operated trolley buses (or "trackless trolleys") on six lines, including Howard Street and Federal Street. Maryland Transit Administration absorbed the company in 1970.
They oversaw the elimination of streetcar service in favor of bus service in 1963 when the last streetcar routes, the number 8 providing service from Catonsville to Towson, and the number 15 (Overlea to Walbrook Junction), were eliminated on November 3, 1963. This is an amazing collectible Americana of one of the last bastions of the nostalgia of streetcars and the magic they provided. Some neat history can be found.

Imagine hanging this vintage historic collectible on your wall as home decor in any room! Stock certificates are another thing that is limited in supply and once they are all gone into museums and collections, they will be hard to get. They are such historic documents with so much history behind them. The first stock certificate was issued in 1606 by the Dutch East India Company. 407 years of history later the Walt Disney Company issued one of the last paper stock certificates from a major corporation in 2013.
