Description

🏈 2020 Panini National Treasures Century Materials Randall Cunningham #CM-RC Relic /10 Football Card – The Ultra-Rare Serial-Numbered /10 Embedded Relic Card of Randall Cunningham, the Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Whose Combination of Arm Talent, Rushing Ability, and Pure Athletic Genius Made Him the Original Template for the Dual-Threat Quarterback and One of the Most Electrifying Players Professional Football Has Ever Produced

🏈 Ten copies. The National Treasures Century Materials Randall Cunningham #CM-RC is serial-numbered to 10 – ten total copies pressed with an embedded piece of game-used material in the card, ten individual examples of a premium Panini National Treasures issue for one of professional football's most singular players at one of the sport's most premium production tiers. National Treasures is the Panini product that sits at the top of the company's price-point hierarchy: the high-end, low-print-run, relic-embedded release that produces the kind of cards that collectors build display cases around. The Century Materials subset within that release embeds materials from players across eras of the sport, connecting the premium production format to the premium players whose careers defined what professional football was at its most compelling. 🎴

🏈 Randall Cunningham was born March 27, 1962, in Santa Barbara, California, the younger brother of Sam “Bam” Cunningham, the USC running back who played in the NFL and whose own athletic gifts gave the family its football reputation before Randall arrived to establish his own. Randall played college football at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, where the scholarship opportunity he received gave him the platform his talent required, and the Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the second round of the 1985 NFL Draft as a quarterback-punter hybrid with a skill set that scouts noted but struggled to fully project because the template Cunningham represented simply did not exist in the NFL at the time. 🏈

🏈 What Cunningham became in Philadelphia – the Ultimate Weapon, the nickname that Eagles fans and football observers assigned to him because no single description of what he was felt adequate – was something the sport had not seen at the quarterback position. He could drop back and throw the deep ball with the timing and velocity of a pocket passer. He could escape a collapsed pocket and turn a busted play into twenty yards. He could scramble from behind the line of scrimmage through the entire defense and end up in the end zone. He could punt the football 60-plus yards. The physical gifts were extraordinary: the arm, the legs, the elusiveness, the speed, the competitive fire that made him impossible to plan for and nearly impossible to stop when he was playing at his best. 🏈

🏈 The Philadelphia seasons from 1985 through 1995 produced some of the most memorable individual plays in the franchise's history: the scrambles that went on past the point where any other quarterback would have gone out of bounds, the long throws that arrived on rope from a platform that was already collapsing, the punts that covered the field in two kicks, the games where Cunningham was effectively an offense by himself. Four Pro Bowl selections. An era of Eagles football in which a quarterback defined the identity of an entire franchise not through system mastery but through the athletic possibilities he introduced every time he lined up under center. ⭐

🏈 The 1998 season in Minnesota produced one of the most remarkable individual performances any quarterback has delivered at age 35: Cunningham led the Vikings to a 15-1 record, threw for 34 touchdowns against 10 interceptions, earned the NFC Offensive Player of the Year award, and made the entire football world look at a player who had been written off after the Philadelphia years and reconsider what was possible. The Viking season ended in the NFC Championship game, a loss that remains one of the more painful near-misses in Minnesota sports history, but Cunningham's performance in that season stands as a statement about athletic longevity and competitive will. 🏆

🏈 The National Treasures /10 relic card is the high-end artifact for a high-end career. Ten copies exist. This is one of them. 🏈
