Ashton Jeanty spent the 2024 season at Boise State chasing the most famous number in college football. Barry Sanders ran for 2,628 yards at Oklahoma State in 1988, and for 36 years nobody got near it. Jeanty finished with 2,601 yards on 374 carries, the second-best rushing season in FBS history and 27 yards short of tying the record. The chase ran out in the Fiesta Bowl, a 31-14 College Football Playoff loss to Penn State. The front is built like a playing card. A gold J over a gold club sits in the top-left corner, and a purple J and club stand upside down in the bottom-right. Jeanty runs out of the middle in a blue jersey with his number 2 and no team logo on the helmet or the jersey. A black spade rides the upper right, crossed axes and a crown frame the orange name banner, ASHTON JEANTY, with RUNNING BACK on the strip below it. The Stacked Deck logo is printed at the top, a PRC logo at the top right, and the serial sits in a black tab at the lower left: 1/1. 🎰 How the Stacked Deck Deals Its Cards

Wild Card built 5 Card Draw around a deck of cards. Every design takes a rank, Ace, King, Queen or Jack, and a suit, and the card code spells the hand out: SDJ for the Jumbo checklist, then the suit initial, then the player's initials. That is how this card became SDJC-AJN. The Jumbo checklist prints its Single Diagonal designs on more than a dozen foil boards, Rainbow, Crystal Holographic, Mosaic, Lava, Mojo, Kaleidoscope and Cross Hatch among them, with one-of-one ColorMatch1, ColorMatch2, GoldSuits1 and GoldSuits2 parallels. Wild Card dealt a lot of hands, and only one of them is Jeanty's rainbow Jack of Clubs in Gold Suits 2.

"Jumbo" on the label comes from the product's full name, 2024 Wild Card 5 Card Draw Stacked Deck Football Hobby Jumbo, and it names the box: five packs of four cards. Wild Card's checklist gives its release as June 2025.

🏭 Wild Card, and the 1991 Idea It Is Named For

Wild Card, Inc. was founded in 2021 and is based in Nolensville, Tennessee. It took its name from an older Wild Card. In 1991 a company operating under AAA Sports, Inc. put out football cards in which about one card in every hundred was "wild": it carried a numbered stripe, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 or 1000, and the collector could redeem it for that many regular cards of the same player. The modern company's own story credits that 1991 stripe with introducing the hobby to the parallel, the numbered variant every modern set is built around, the one-of-one in this holder included.

The new Wild Card has not been a quiet newcomer. In November 2025 it filed a federal antitrust suit against Panini America, the Irving, Texas card maker, alleging that Panini pressured distributors and at least one specialty manufacturer to cut off business with Wild Card and stall its growth. Wild Card's chief executive, Daniel Atkins, said the company only wanted a level playing field.

📜 The Fine Print That Changed College Sports

Go back to that licensing line on the card back: the player alone licensed his likeness. For most of the NCAA's existence a college athlete could not be paid for his own name or face. That changed on July 1, 2021, when the NCAA adopted its interim name, image and likeness policy, and for the first time in its 115-year history athletes could sign endorsements, sell autographs and appear on trading cards for pay. Wild Card was founded that same year. Ten weeks after the policy took effect, on September 13, 2021, a high school running back from Frisco, Texas committed to Boise State.

🌍 From a Navy School Near Naples to Texas

Jeanty was born December 2, 2003, in Jacksonville, Florida. His father, Harry Jeanty, was a U.S. Navy chief petty officer, and the family's postings put the boy's football in Europe. As a freshman at Naples Middle/High School, the school for American military families near Naples, Italy, he ran for more than 1,200 yards and 21 touchdowns in a six-game season, traveling to play other Department of Defense schools in places like Germany, Switzerland and Belgium. Back in the States he finished at Lone Star High School in Frisco with a senior season of 1,843 yards and 41 total touchdowns. The recruiting services were slow to catch on, though 247Sports had him as a four-star. He picked Boise State.

💙 Boise, Idaho, and the Blue

He landed on the most recognizable field in the sport. In 1986 Bronco Stadium, now Albertsons Stadium, needed new artificial turf, and athletic director Gene Bleymaier chose blue. Boise State became the first school with a non-green football field, and more than 20 years passed before another university went with a color other than green. The first game on the blue was a 74-0 win over Humboldt State on September 13, 1986. Fans have called it the Smurf Turf, Bronco Bluegrass, and Lake Lyle in honor of Coach Lyle Smith, and the university holds a federal trademark on the color blue as applied to artificial turf.

The field grew its own legend within days of going in: ducks, the story went, mistook the blue for water and crash-landed on it. Reporters put the rumor to Bleymaier, and he once found a videographer in the stadium waiting for the ducks to come down. Birds see blue better than people do, and the crash-landing tale is a myth, though geese have been photographed wandering the field looking puzzled. The coincidence Boise fans like best is true: Jeanty committed 35 years to the day after that first game on the blue. On it he ran for 821 yards as a freshman, 1,347 as a sophomore, and then 2,601.

On April 24, 2025, the Las Vegas Raiders took Jeanty sixth overall in the NFL Draft, the highest a running back had gone since Saquon Barkley went second in 2018. He kept number 2. The Jumbo box, 2024 on every copyright line, reached the market in June 2025, after the draft, so this Jack of Clubs was dealt with the whole story already on the table: the record chase, the Heisman race, the Raiders pick. In his rookie season of 2025 he played 17 games, ran for 975 yards and 5 touchdowns, caught 55 passes for 346 yards and 5 more touchdowns, and was named to the Pro Football Writers of America All-Rookie Team. It was a hard first year behind a banged-up offensive line, and the 2026 start is the one I like: under new head coach Klint Kubiak he opened his second season with 102 yards on 23 carries, six catches and two touchdowns in a 27-13 win over Miami, and a week later the Raiders beat the Chargers 26-14 to start 2-0 for the first time since 2021.
