These came out of the Golden's cigar operation in Bonneauville, a small borough in Adams County, Pennsylvania — that provenance is the owner's, from his own record of the stock, not something printed on the label.

Pennsylvania was the centre of American cigar making for most of the period these labels come from. Its farms grew the broadleaf and seedleaf wrappers, and by the late nineteenth century the state ran more cigar factories than any other — hundreds of them small, family-run shops working under federal factory numbers, each needing its own printed brand imagery. That demand is why gold-embossed box labels like this one exist in the numbers they do.

A single white orchid with a deep red-marked throat sits at the centre of a dark teal ground, with "White Orchid" lettered in flowing white script to either side of it. A cigar runs across the lower edge, and the whole design is enclosed by a gold embossed border with a repeating scrolled pattern that catches the light at an angle.

It measures 5¼ inches by 2¾ inches.
