🏀 Alonzo Mourning Signed Georgetown Hoyas Blue College Basketball Jersey JSA COA — Born Chesapeake Virginia, Georgetown University Hoyas Under Coach John Thompson, 2nd Overall Pick 1992 NBA Draft Charlotte Hornets, 2006 NBA Champion Miami Heat, 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year, 7x NBA All-Star, Basketball Hall of Fame 2014, The Dominant Georgetown Center Who Became One of the Greatest Shot-Blockers in NBA History

The Georgetown Hoyas blue college basketball jersey signed by Alonzo Mourning — "Zo" — the Chesapeake, Virginia center who played under coach John Thompson at Georgetown University and whose career from the Hoyas to the Charlotte Hornets to the Miami Heat represents one of the most compelling narratives in the history of NBA basketball: a defensive anchor who overcame kidney disease during the prime of his career to win the 2006 NBA Championship and finish as a member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame class of 2014 — authenticated by James Spence Authentication. The Georgetown blue jersey is the collector document of the Mourning origin point — the college uniform worn before the NBA, before the kidney disease, before the championship, before the Hall of Fame induction — the Hoyas jersey from the years when John Thompson was building one of the most physically imposing and defensive-minded programs in college basketball history with Mourning as his centerpiece player. The Georgetown blue. The JSA signature. The story that started on the Hilltop before it ended in Miami. Condition: NOS.

🌟 Chesapeake, Virginia — Georgetown University — John Thompson — The Big East Defensive Force

Alonzo Mourning was born February 8, 1970, in Chesapeake, Virginia — the independent city in the Hampton Roads metropolitan area of southeastern Virginia, one of the largest cities in the United States by land area, a community of military families and Virginia waterfront culture across the Elizabeth River from Norfolk. He was recruited to Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where head coach John Thompson had built one of the most formidable defensive programs in college basketball — Georgetown's Hoya Paranoia identity, the zone and man-to-man defensive intensity, the Big East physicality that Thompson demanded, had produced Patrick Ewing as the program's first dominant center. Mourning arrived as the next in that tradition: a rim-protecting, shot-blocking center whose physical tools and competitive intensity fit the Georgetown system perfectly. He played four seasons for the Hoyas, led them to multiple Big East titles and tournament appearances, and left as one of the consensus top prospects in the 1992 draft class. Condition: NOS.

🏆 The 2nd Overall Pick — The Charlotte Hornets — The Kidney Disease — The 2006 Championship — The Hall of Fame

The Charlotte Hornets selected Alonzo Mourning 2nd overall in the 1992 NBA Draft, and he arrived as an immediate defensive force: a center whose shot-blocking and rim protection changed the defensive identity of every team he played for. His trade to the Miami Heat brought him to the city where his legacy would ultimately be built — in Miami under Pat Riley, Mourning was a 2x NBA Defensive Player of the Year (1999, 2000), a seven-time All-Star, and one of the most dominant interior defenders in the league. The kidney disease diagnosis in 2000 that threatened both his career and his life made his eventual return and his 2006 NBA Championship ring with the Miami Heat one of the most moving comeback narratives in sports history. Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014 — the final acknowledgment of a career built on defense, determination, and the competitive will to overcome obstacles that had nothing to do with basketball ability. The Georgetown blue jersey, signed by Zo, authenticated by JSA, is the origin story piece. Condition: NOS.
