On December 27, 2009, Chris Johnson became only the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 or more yards in a single season. His final total: 2,006 yards — one of the most celebrated rushing performances in league history, and the moment that transformed "CJ2K" from a nickname into a legacy. He had come to Tennessee as the 24th overall pick of the 2008 NFL Draft out of East Carolina, a speedster from Orlando, Florida who clocked a 4.24-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine — the fastest ever recorded at the Combine at the time. When the Titans drafted him, they got the fastest player in the building. In 2009, the whole NFL found out what that meant.
