The Minnesota Vikings selected Carl Eller sixth overall in the 1964 NFL Draft out of the University of Minnesota, and he wasted no time making an impact, recording 7.5 sacks as a rookie and helping deliver the franchise's first winning season. Eller anchored the left end position of the legendary "Purple People Eaters" defensive line alongside Jim Marshall, Alan Page, and Gary Larsen. 🏈

Starting in 1968, Eller and the Vikings won 10 division titles over the next 11 seasons, capturing the 1969 NFL championship and reaching four Super Bowls. He led the league with 15 sacks in 1969, earned five All-Pro selections and six Pro Bowl nods, and retired with 23 career fumble recoveries, third-most in NFL history at the time. ⭐
