Description

Vintage Darryl Strawberry Autographed New York Grey Baseball Jersey PSA/DNA COA – The Professional Sports Authenticator PSA/DNA COA Certified Hand-Signed New York Grey Baseball Jersey of Darryl Strawberry, the New York Mets' Towering Right Fielder, Eight-Time All-Star, 1986 World Series Champion, and One of the Most Feared Left-Handed Power Bats of His Generation

⚾ There was no swing in baseball quite like Darryl Strawberry's. The left-handed cut of a six-foot-six-inch right fielder whose arms generated leverage that sent baseballs not just out of parks but far out of parks – into the upper decks, over the auxiliary scoreboards, onto the streets beyond the fences – carried with it a visual drama that made every plate appearance worth watching. He was one of the most physically gifted baseball players of the 1980s, and in New York – the city that amplifies everything, that makes the already significant into the legendary – his talent burned at the highest possible visibility. The grey jersey he wore on the road for the New York Mets and the New York Yankees is the uniform of that New York chapter, and this example, hand-signed by Strawberry himself and certified authentic by the Professional Sports Authenticator PSA/DNA with a Certificate of Authenticity, is a collectible artifact from one of the most storied batting careers in the history of the city.

⚾ Darryl Eugene Strawberry was born on March 12, 1962, in Los Angeles, California, and arrived in New York as the first overall pick of the 1980 MLB Draft – the consensus top talent in a draft class that carried enormous expectations for whoever wore number one. The New York Mets selected him, gave him #18, and watched him win the 1983 NL Rookie of the Year Award in a first season that confirmed the draft evaluation completely. What followed across his seven seasons in Queens was eight All-Star selections, 252 home runs as a Met, and the 1986 World Series championship – one of the most celebrated championships in Mets franchise history, a team led by Strawberry and Doc Gooden and Keith Hernandez and a roster that played with a swagger that New York understood completely. He left the Mets after the 1990 season and moved through stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco before arriving in New York again with the Yankees, where he contributed to World Series championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000.
