Description

🏀 Autographed/Signed George Gervin "The Iceman" San Antonio Spurs Black Basketball Jersey — Beckett BAS COA — Detroit, Michigan — Virginia Squires — San Antonio Spurs — 4-Time NBA Scoring Champion — 9-Time NBA All-Star — Basketball Hall of Fame 1996 — "The Iceman" — Beckett Authentication Services Certificate of Authenticity

🏀 George Gervin signed this San Antonio Spurs black basketball jersey himself — the autograph of the shooting guard whose finger roll became the shot that an era defined itself by, whose coolness under pressure gave him the nickname that outlasted every season he played, and whose four NBA scoring championships remain among the most concentrated bursts of offensive dominance in the history of the professional game. Authenticated and certified by Beckett Authentication Services (BAS), the most widely recognized authentication company in the sports memorabilia market, this signed Spurs black jersey is the collectible of the player who became San Antonio's first basketball star — the figure who built the Spurs fan base before David Robinson arrived and Tim Duncan extended it. Condition: NOS.

🌟 Detroit, Michigan — The ABA Road to San Antonio

🌟 George Gervin was born on April 27, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan — the same industrial midwestern city that produced some of the most celebrated athletes in professional sports history, and the starting point for the journey that would eventually bring him to San Antonio. He played college basketball briefly before Virginia Squires of the ABA signed him, placing him in the same league and briefly the same franchise as Julius Erving before the Squires sold his rights to the San Antonio Spurs. When the ABA-NBA merger happened in 1976, Gervin was already an established star — and the Spurs kept him as the centerpiece of their new NBA franchise. The black jersey carries that history forward. Condition: NOS.

🏆 Four Scoring Titles — The Battle With David Thompson

🏆 George Gervin won four NBA scoring championships — in 1978, 1979, 1980, and 1982 — including the 1977-78 title that was decided in the final game of the season in one of the most dramatic performances in basketball history. David Thompson had scored 73 points that same afternoon to briefly take the scoring lead. Gervin, playing that night in New Orleans, opened with 20 points in the first quarter, then scored 33 in the second quarter — an NBA single-quarter scoring record — to reach 53 at halftime, finishing with 63 points to reclaim the title by seven-hundredths of a point per game. The Iceman, unmoved. BAS authenticated. Condition: NOS.

The Finger Roll — A Shot That Defined a Generation

⭐ George Gervin's finger roll — the soft, arcing layup released off the fingertips that allowed him to score in traffic without a conventional two-footed jump — became the signature move of the late 1970s and early 1980s NBA, the shot that complemented his calm demeanor and gave him a weapon against bigger, stronger defenders who could contest a jump shot but found the finger roll impossible to block cleanly. Nine NBA All-Star Game selections. The Basketball Hall of Fame, inducted 1996. The Spurs black jersey, signed and Beckett authenticated, is the collectible of that career. Condition: NOS.
