The 1985 Chicago Bears went 15-1 in the regular season, obliterated the postseason, and defeated the New England Patriots 46-10 in Super Bowl XX on January 26, 1986 — the most lopsided championship game in NFL history, a performance so dominant that "46" and "Buddy Ryan" and "the 85 Bears" became part of the permanent language of professional football. Mike Ditka coached that team. He also coached the New Orleans Saints (1997-1999), but the Chicago chapter of his story is the one cut into stone.
