🏒 Mike Eruzione Signed Team USA White Hockey Jersey — JSA COA — Miracle on Ice, 1980 Lake Placid Gold Medal

On February 22, 1980, in Lake Placid, New York, a team of American college players and amateurs walked onto the ice at the Olympic field house to face the Soviet Union in the semifinal of the Winter Olympics. The Soviet team was, by the consensus of nearly every hockey observer alive at the time, the greatest hockey team ever assembled: experienced veterans of international competition who played at a professional level in every practical sense, a team that had dominated world hockey for two decades and had embarrassed the best players the NHL had to offer just thirteen months earlier in the Challenge Cup. Nobody gave the Americans a chance.

For two periods, the young Americans held their own. Then, at 10:00 of the third period, with the United States trailing 3-2, a 25-year-old captain from Winthrop, Massachusetts — a player named Mike Eruzione, born January 25, 1954, a Boston University product who had never been drafted by an NHL team and would never play a professional game in his life — wheeled and fired a wrist shot past Soviet backup goaltender Vladimir Myshkin. USA 4, USSR 3. A lead the Americans never gave back.

"Do you believe in miracles? YES!" Al Michaels' call echoed across the arena and across the country. The Miracle on Ice. One of the most celebrated moments in American sports history — perhaps the most celebrated, certainly the most unexpected, and absolutely the most replayed. The United States defeated Finland 4-2 two days later to win the gold medal. And Mike Eruzione — who had scored the single most consequential goal in the history of American hockey — never played an NHL game. He retired after Lake Placid, carrying with him a moment that no professional career could have improved upon, that no subsequent achievement could have surpassed, that stands alone at the top of American hockey history.

Eruzione signed this white Team USA hockey jersey. JSA authenticated. The Miracle on Ice. The goal that stopped the world. The signature that brings it home.
