Description

Autographed/Signed Wade Boggs Boston Red Sox White Baseball Jersey JSA COA – The Hand-Signed White Home Jersey of the Greatest Contact Hitter of the 1980s, Five-Time American League Batting Champion, Twelve-Time All-Star, and 2005 Baseball Hall of Fame Inductee Who Spent the First and Most Legendary Decade of His Career in Boston, Certified Authentic by JSA

⚾ There is a kind of hitter who doesn't happen very often – the hitter who makes contact look not just easy but inevitable, who takes the at-bat out of the hands of the pitcher and turns it into a negotiation that the pitcher is almost certain to lose. Wade Boggs was that kind of hitter. From the moment he arrived in Boston in 1982 through the final Red Sox season he played in 1992, Boggs put together one of the sustained great offensive runs in the history of the American League, batting .338 for his career with the Red Sox and winning five batting titles in six seasons between 1983 and 1988. Those batting title years came in a stretch – 1983 at .361, 1985 at .368, 1986 at .357, 1987 at .363, 1988 at .366 – that established him as the most consistent pure hitter in baseball during the entire decade. ⚾

⚾ The Red Sox white home jersey that Boggs wore during those years became one of the iconic uniforms of the 1980s, the nameplate on the back of that jersey appearing in highlight reel after highlight reel as line drives found gaps and batting averages climbed and the league's best pitchers walked away from Fenway Park shaking their heads. Boggs stood in the box with an almost preternatural patience – he walked 1,412 times in his career, drew counts deep, fouled off pitches that other hitters would have missed entirely, and turned the process of getting on base into an art form that players still study. In 1985, he had 240 hits and might have hit .400 if not for a late-season cold stretch that dropped him to .368 – still the highest average in baseball by a distance. ⚾

⚾ The hand-signed Boston Red Sox white jersey, certified authentic by JSA, carries that signature into a framed display that represents not just an autograph but an era: the 1980s Red Sox, the years when Boggs was the best hitter in the American League and Fenway Park was where you went to watch him work.
