Description

🏀 Framed Autographed/Signed Bill Walton 35x39 UCLA Blue College Basketball Jersey — JSA COA — The Elegantly Framed Hand-Signed UCLA Bruins Blue College Jersey Authenticated by James Spence Authentication Bearing the Signature of the La Mesa California Native Whose Three Years Under John Wooden at UCLA Produced Two NCAA Championships, Two AP Player of the Year Awards, and Performances That Witnesses Consistently Describe as the Most Dominant College Basketball They Ever Saw, a Basketball Hall of Famer Whose Jersey Carries the Weight Not Only of His Playing Career but of a Life Richly and Loudly Lived

🏀 The 1971-72, 1972-73, and 1973-74 UCLA Bruins basketball seasons belong to the short list of college athletic achievements so complete that they require their own framework for evaluation. Bill Walton arrived in Westwood as a 6-foot-11 center from La Mesa, California — a red-haired, fiercely competitive, sometimes confrontational player whose basketball abilities under John Wooden's coaching produced a transformation of everything anyone thought they knew about what college basketball could look like. In those three seasons, Walton's UCLA teams went 86-4. He was named AP Player of the Year twice. He won two national championships. He shot 65 percent from the field during his UCLA career. Against Memphis State in the 1973 NCAA Championship Game, he hit 21 of 22 field goal attempts — a performance that John Wooden called the greatest he ever witnessed from any of his players. The individual statistics and team achievements from those three seasons accumulate into a record that is genuinely difficult to place in a category alongside anything else that has happened in college basketball.

🏀 Walton was born on November 5, 1952, in La Mesa, California, and his path through UCLA into the NBA produced championships at both levels — with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977 and the Boston Celtics in 1986 — and a Basketball Hall of Fame induction in 1993 that recognized the full arc of a career shaped as much by injuries and their management as by talent that every observer agreed was capable of the very highest level when health permitted. His post-playing career as a television broadcaster — passionate, encyclopedic, sometimes deliberately unconventional — gave new audiences a window into his appreciation for the game and the figures in it that lasted decades beyond his playing days.

🏀 Bill Walton passed away on May 27, 2024, at the age of 71 — a beloved figure in basketball whose voice and spirit had become as recognizable as any statistics from his playing career. This UCLA blue college jersey bears his signature, professionally framed in a 35x39 display frame, authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a Certificate of Authenticity included.
