Description

Framed Autographed/Signed Bobby Richardson 35x39 New York Yankees 1960 WS MVP Grey Baseball Jersey with JSA COA – The Framed Hand-Signed New York Yankees Road Grey Baseball Jersey of Bobby Richardson, the Second Baseman Who Won the 1960 World Series Most Valuable Player Award Despite Being on the Losing Team, the Only Player in the History of the Fall Classic to Receive That Honor for the Side That Did Not Win the Championship, a Three-Time World Series Champion Whose Career in Pinstripes Made Him One of the Most Reliable Players in the Yankees Dynasty of the Late 1950s and Early 1960s, Certified Authentic by James Spence Authentication (JSA), From the Hall of Fame Sports Collection

⚾ Baseball has produced exactly one World Series Most Valuable Player who played for the team that lost the series. The 1960 Fall Classic between the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates ended on October 13 at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh when Bill Mazeroski connected with Ralph Terry's second pitch in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 7 and drove it over the left field wall for the only walk-off home run in World Series Game 7 history. The Pirates won 10-9. The Yankees lost. And the MVP of that seven-game series was Bobby Richardson, who played second base for New York and produced one of the most remarkable offensive performances the World Series has ever seen. ⭐

⚾ Twelve runs batted in. The record for RBI in a single World Series, set across seven games while playing for the losing team. Richardson drove in six runs in Game 3 alone, including a grand slam in the first inning that set the tone for a 10-0 Yankees victory. The Yankees won three of the seven games by scores of 16-3, 10-0, and 12-0. They outscored the Pirates 55-27 across the entire series. They lost anyway, because the Pirates kept the close games close and won each one, and Mazeroski's home run ended it the way Pittsburgh baseball has always deserved at least one moment to end it. 🌟

⚾ Richardson was the kind of player that great teams in any era require: reliable, skilled without demanding the attention of the box score every night, and consistently present for the games that mattered most. He played his entire career for the Yankees from 1955 to 1966, earning five All-Star selections during a stretch when the American League's second base position included some of the best infielders in the game. He won World Series rings in 1958, 1961, and 1962 as part of a Yankees organization that treated October as an expectation rather than a destination. After his playing career ended, Richardson devoted himself to his Christian faith, becoming a public figure associated with evangelical ministry and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. 🏆

⚾ The road grey Yankees jersey – “New York” written across the chest in the pinstripes font that is among the most recognized uniforms in American sports – is the jersey Richardson wore when he traveled to Pittsburgh and produced twelve RBI that were not enough to prevent a championship that Mazeroski made inevitable. This JSA-authenticated framed 35x39 signed grey jersey is the permanent display form of a baseball anomaly: the MVP of a World Series that the MVP's team lost, preserved on a wall where history belongs. 🎯
