The heating system under the turf had failed overnight, leaving the playing surface as hard as concrete and the breath of every player visible in dense clouds on every snap. The Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers played the 1967 NFL Championship game in those conditions – and the game they produced became the most celebrated championship contest in the history of professional football. Chuck Mercein was in the middle of it. 🌟
