🏀 Framed Autographed Clyde Drexler Houston Rockets Red Basketball Jersey — Beckett BAS Certified — A Signed Display Piece From "Clyde the Glide," the Hall of Fame Guard Who Electrified Portland, Won a Championship in His Hometown Houston, and Competed With Michael Jordan on the Greatest Olympic Basketball Team Ever Assembled

🏀 There is a particular quality of movement in basketball that goes beyond athleticism and enters the category of art — a way of navigating the court and the bodies of defenders that looks effortless in a way that effort never actually looks, that communicates the ease of the exceptional. Clyde Drexler had that quality, and the nickname the game gave him captured it in two words. "Clyde the Glide." He moved through basketball at a level that made the difficulty of what he was doing invisible, and what he was doing was among the most complete guard play of his generation.

🏀 He grew up in Houston, Texas, and the path back to where he started is one of the more resonant stories in NBA championship history — but first came Portland, and the Trail Blazers, and over a decade of basketball in the Pacific Northwest that made him one of the most beloved players in the franchise's history. He was selected 14th overall by Portland in the 1983 NBA Draft, and he spent the better part of twelve seasons building his legacy in the Pacific Northwest: ten NBA All-Star selections, first-team All-NBA honors, and leadership of Trail Blazers teams that reached the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. Those Finals appearances — against the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls respectively — represent the two most significant obstacles the Trail Blazers faced at the moment when their championship window was fully open, and Drexler's performance in both runs demonstrated exactly the class of player Portland had in its backcourt.

🏀 He was traded to the Houston Rockets in February 1995 — returning to the city where he grew up — and arrived in time to join Hakeem Olajuwon's defending champions for a playoff run that produced a second consecutive NBA title for Houston. Drexler and Olajuwon had been teammates at the University of Houston on the legendary "Phi Slama Jama" teams that had nearly won a national championship — and now, over a decade later, they were reunited as professionals in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. The Rockets won the 1995 NBA Championship, and Clyde Drexler finally had the ring that the 1990 and 1992 runs had been preparing him for.

🏀 In between, in 1992, he represented the United States as a member of the Dream Team at the Barcelona Olympics — the first United States Olympic basketball team composed of NBA professionals, assembled as the greatest collection of basketball talent ever put on a single roster. Drexler was there alongside Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, and the rest of the players whose names define the history of the game, and his inclusion confirmed the evaluation that the sport had reached about where he stood among his generation's elite.

🏀 The Houston Rockets red jersey is the uniform of his championship season — the color of the franchise that brought him home and gave him the title that Portland's two Finals runs had made him want more than anything else in the game. Beckett Authentication Services (BAS) certification provides the professional independent verification that the signature is genuine.
