⚾ Keith Foulke was born on October 19, 1972, in San Diego, California, and spent a professional career as one of the most reliable relief pitchers of the late 1990s and early 2000s – a closer whose ability to retire hitters across multiple innings with a deceptive changeup and a willingness to pitch in any situation made him valuable to every organization that had him. He came to the Boston Red Sox in 2004 after a productive run with the Oakland Athletics, and the circumstances that awaited him in the American League East – a Boston team that had not won a World Series since 1918, carrying a weight of missed opportunities that had become part of the identity of the franchise and its fan base – turned out to be the setting where his career found its most historic moment.

Keith Foulke fielded the comebacker, walked toward first base, and tossed underhanded to Doug Mientkiewicz to complete the final out. The Curse of the Bambino – 86 years of waiting, of heartbreak, of 1918 being the last time Boston had done this – was over. The entire city of Boston exhaled at once. Foulke was the pitcher holding the baseball when it happened. The white Boston home jersey carries that signature, framed at 35x39 inches. Authenticated by James Spence Authentication (JSA) with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA). Condition: NOS.
