Description

⚾ 1975 Topps George Brett #228 Rookie RC Baseball Card — PSA 4 VG-EX

In 1980, George Brett hit .390 — the highest batting average by any player since Ted Williams hit .406 in 1941. That season, that number, and the story of the third baseman from Glen Dale, West Virginia who spent his entire twenty-one-year career with the Kansas City Royals and won the 1980 AL MVP award has made Brett one of the most beloved figures in baseball history. Born May 15, 1953 in Glen Dale, West Virginia, Brett was selected 29th overall by the Kansas City Royals in the 1971 MLB Draft and made his debut in 1973. His 1975 Topps rookie card arrived in baseball card packs across America the year after his first full season — a card that every collector who followed the game through the Brett era knows by sight. The 1975 Topps George Brett #228 Rookie RC baseball card, graded PSA 4 VG-EX — a genuinely vintage cardboard survivor from the 1975 Topps set, the rookie year card of one of the greatest third basemen in the history of baseball, certified and slabbed by PSA in the VG-EX grade that reflects fifty years of honest hobby circulation. Glen Dale, West Virginia. Kansas City Royals 1973-1993. .390 in 1980. 1980 AL MVP. Three batting titles. The Pine Tar Incident (1983). 1985 World Series champion (Royals over Cardinals). HOF 1999.
