On January 11, 1987, with the Denver Broncos trailing the Cleveland Browns 20–13 in the AFC Championship Game with 5:32 left in the fourth quarter, John Elway took the field at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. What followed was 98 yards of football legend: 15 plays, marching the Broncos downfield in biting Ohio winter cold to tie the game, then win it in overtime. "The Drive" is the single defining moment of a career already overflowing with them — and it came from a quarterback born in Port Angeles, Washington, developed at Stanford University, and drafted 1st overall by the Baltimore Colts in 1983, only to refuse to play there and force his way to Denver in one of the most famous holdouts in NFL Draft history. 🏈
