Description

๐Ÿ€ Vintage Graded 1989 Fleer Robert Parish #12 Basketball Card PSA 10 Gem Mint โ€“ The 1989 Fleer Card of โ€œThe Chief,โ€ the Boston Celtics Center Who Won Four NBA Championships Across a Career Spanning Three Decades, Who Anchored the Paint for Three of the Greatest Celtics Teams in the Franchise's History Alongside Larry Bird and Kevin McHale, and Whose Quiet Excellence Made Him One of the Most Underrated and Most Accomplished Big Men in NBA History, Graded PSA 10 GEM MINT

๐Ÿ€ The Fleer basketball card sets of the late 1980s occupy a distinct and beloved place in the collecting hobby โ€“ the continuation of the famous 1986-87 Fleer set that introduced the Jordan Rookie Card and redefined what a basketball card could be, the Fleer sets that followed through the late 1980s documented the careers of the players who made the NBA's second golden era possible, players who filled the Celtics' Garden and the Showtime Lakers' Forum and the Bad Boys' Pontiac Silverdome with audiences that had not seen the game marketed and broadcast at this level before. Card #12 in the 1989 Fleer basketball set is Robert Parish, graded PSA 10 GEM MINT โ€“ a card from the heart of his Celtic championship years, documenting one of the most consistent centers in the history of the professional game in the condition that represents the highest achievement a graded card can reach. On a late-1980s Fleer card for a Hall of Famer, PSA 10 is an exceptionally difficult grade to obtain.

๐Ÿ€ Robert Parish was born August 30, 1953, in Shreveport, Louisiana, and developed his game through high school and at Centenary College before the Golden State Warriors selected him in the first round of the 1976 NBA Draft. He spent four seasons in the Bay Area before the Boston Celtics acquired him in a 1980 trade that also brought the rights to Kevin McHale, a deal that gave Red Auerbach two of the three components of the most formidable frontcourt in the league and enabled the Celtics to build the dynasty that would define the Eastern Conference for the next decade. The partnership between Parish, Bird, and McHale became the standard against which all frontcourt combinations are measured โ€“ the combination of interior scoring, rebounding, defense, and the selfless basketball that put team success above individual statistics and produced championship after championship for a franchise that already had more banners than any arena could comfortably display.

๐Ÿ€ Robert Parish won NBA Championships with the Celtics in 1981, 1984, and 1986, and added a fourth ring in the final season of his career with the 1996-97 Chicago Bulls at the age of forty-three โ€“ making him, at the time of that fourth championship, the oldest player in NBA history to win an NBA title. His career totals of 23,334 points and 14,715 rebounds over 1,611 games remain among the most durable bodies of work the center position has ever produced, and his 2003 induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame recognized a career of sustained excellence that the highlight-driven media of his era sometimes failed to appreciate fully in real time. The 1989 Fleer card PSA 10 GEM MINT captures โ€œThe Chiefโ€ at the peak of his Celtic excellence, in perfect condition. Condition: NOS.

๐Ÿ… PSA 10 GEM MINT on a 1989 Fleer basketball card is a significant grading achievement โ€“ cards from this era were produced with the centering challenges and surface quality variances that make perfect grades exceptionally difficult to obtain. Four sharp corners, centering within PSA's tolerance, and surfaces free of print defects are required. Condition: NOS.

๐Ÿ€ Robert Parish. Shreveport, Louisiana. Boston Celtics. Golden State Warriors. โ€œThe Chief.โ€ 4x NBA Champion (1981, 1984, 1986, 1997). 9x All-Star. Basketball Hall of Fame 2003. 1989 Fleer #12. PSA 10 GEM MINT. Hall of Fame Sports Memorabilia. Condition: NOS.
