Before there was "The King," there was a teenager from Akron, Ohio who appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated in February 2002 with the headline "The Chosen One." LeBron James grew up in Summit Lake, Akron — one of the hardest-hit neighborhoods in a city that had seen better days — and attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, where his games were broadcast on ESPN2 and attracted NBA scouts years before he was old enough to be drafted. The hype was unprecedented. The production matched it. 🏀
The Cleveland Cavaliers selected LeBron 1st overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, and what followed was one of the most extraordinary careers in the history of professional basketball. Four NBA championships (2012, 2013, 2016, 2020). Four NBA MVP awards. Four Finals MVP awards. The all-time NBA scoring record, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on February 7, 2023. The 2003-04 Upper Deck Box Set rookie card is one of LeBron's early RC pieces from his landmark debut season — not a standard pack-pulled card but part of a specially produced box set release, making high-grade PSA 10 examples rare and prized. PSA 10 Gem Mint means perfect corners, perfect surfaces, and the cleanest possible example of the most-watched rookie debut in NBA history. Akron. St. Vincent-St. Mary. The Chosen One. The King. PSA 10 Gem Mint.
