🏈 2012 Topps Magic Nick Foles #97 Rookie RC Football Card — PSA 10 GEM MINT — The Perfectly Graded Rookie Card of the Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Who Caught and Threw Touchdowns in the Same Super Bowl, Earned Super Bowl LII MVP Honors Over Tom Brady's New England Patriots, and Delivered the Most Famous Trick Play in Championship Game History

🏈 On February 4, 2018, at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the Philadelphia Eagles lined up on the New England Patriots' one-yard line on fourth-and-goal in the second quarter of Super Bowl LII. Nick Foles, the backup quarterback who had stepped in when Carson Wentz went down with a knee injury in December and had somehow carried the Eagles from a December backup role to a Super Bowl starting assignment, went in motion to the left. Running back Corey Clement lined up under center. Wide receiver Trey Burton took a direct snap — and threw a pass into the back of the end zone toward the tight end lining up in the flat. That tight end was Nick Foles. He caught it for a touchdown. In the most-watched sporting event in American television history, the quarterback of one team had just caught a touchdown pass on a fourth-down play that has since been immortalized as the "Philly Special" — a play whose fame has grown in the years since to become shorthand for the perfectly executed surprise in championship-stakes football. The Eagles won the game 41-33. Foles was named MVP.

🏈 Foles was born on January 20, 1989, in Austin, Texas — the state capital and a city whose relationship with football runs from the backyard to the Friday night lights to the University of Texas tower and beyond. He played his college football at the University of Arizona in Tucson, developing into a prolific passer under head coach Mike Stoops in the Pac-12 Conference — a conference whose teams had produced a steady flow of NFL quarterbacks over the decades, and where Foles's size (6-foot-6) and arm strength drew the attention of NFL scouts who valued the physical tools even if his mobility was a question mark at the professional level. The Philadelphia Eagles selected him in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft — 88th overall — as a developmental prospect who might be a career backup or might eventually grow into a starter.

🏈 What Foles became was something the NFL draft process cannot fully anticipate: a player whose greatest performance came not in a full season of starting but in a single month of football that happened to include the biggest game in the sport's calendar. In December 2017, Carson Wentz — who had been playing at an MVP level for the Eagles and leading Philadelphia toward the best record in the NFC — tore his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams. Foles stepped in. And what followed over the Eagles' playoff run was one of the most celebrated underdog performances in recent postseason history: victories against the Atlanta Falcons, the Minnesota Vikings on the road in the NFC Championship, and then New England in the Super Bowl, with Foles completing 28 of 43 passes for 373 yards and three touchdowns in the championship game — and catching one. He was the first player in Super Bowl history to both throw and catch a touchdown pass in the same game.

🏈 The 2012 Topps Magic Football set is a Topps release known for its distinctive design and the depth of its rookie content — a product that gives collectors access to the entering NFL class in a format that emphasizes clean, stylized photography and the kind of card aesthetics that photograph sharply in display cases and penny sleeves. Card #97 places Foles in the base checklist of the set as a 2012 rookie card — his first professional card year, from the class that also included Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Russell Wilson, Ryan Tannehill, and other quarterbacks who went on to varying degrees of professional success across the following decade.

🏈 Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) evaluated this card and awarded PSA 10 GEM MINT — the highest grade on PSA's scale, requiring four perfect corners, centering within the strictest tolerances, and a surface completely free of scratches, print defects, or creasing. A PSA 10 Foles rookie carries the historical weight of a quarterback whose career culminated in one of the most celebrated single-game performances in championship football history — the backup who became a champion and the tight end who happened to be the quarterback on the most famous play of Super Bowl LII.
