🌟 Yakima, Washington — The Apple Capital — Eastern Washington University — The FCS Path to the NFL

Cooper Kupp was born June 15, 1993, in Yakima, Washington — the city in the Yakima Valley in south-central Washington State known as the Apple Capital of the World, the agricultural hub of the Columbia River Plateau where the valley's fertile volcanic soil and the long summer days at elevation produce some of the most productive fruit-growing conditions in the Pacific Northwest. Yakima is not a city that has sent many players to the NFL, but the Kupp family has a football heritage — Cooper's grandfather, Jack Kupp, played for the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints in the 1960s. The family football gene expressed itself fully in Cooper. At Yakima's Davis High School, Kupp was a standout receiver, but the major programs did not recruit him at the level his talent warranted, and he committed to Eastern Washington University in Cheney — the FCS school in the Inland Northwest that has produced a remarkable pipeline of NFL talent for its level of competition. At Eastern Washington, wearing the red and white of the Eagles, Kupp became one of the greatest statistical receivers in the history of the FCS: 428 receptions, 6,464 receiving yards, and 73 touchdowns across four seasons — numbers that made him a consensus first-team All-American and demonstrated that the level of competition had never been the limiting factor. The 2017 NFL Draft evaluated him as a third-round prospect, and the Los Angeles Rams selected him with the 69th overall pick. What followed validated every scout who had seen past the FCS label. The 2021 NFL Season — The Triple Crown — 145 Receptions — 1,947 Yards — 16 Touchdowns — The Greatest Individual Receiving Season in Modern NFL History

The 2021 NFL season was Cooper Kupp's. The Los Angeles Rams, in their first season at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood with Matthew Stafford at quarterback following the trade that sent Stafford from Detroit to Los Angeles, built an offense that ran through Kupp like no wide receiver had anchored an offense since the era of Jerry Rice. Kupp caught 145 passes — the second most in NFL history to that point. He accumulated 1,947 receiving yards — a career record at the time of the season. He scored 16 touchdown receptions. Those three numbers — receptions, yards, touchdowns — led the entire NFL in all three categories simultaneously: the Wide Receiver Triple Crown, the rarest individual achievement at the position, last accomplished by Jerry Rice in 1990 in the season when he was considered the greatest wide receiver who had ever played the game. Kupp won the AP Offensive Player of the Year award, the Bert Bell Award as the NFL Player of the Year by the Maxwell Football Club, and virtually every individual offensive honor the league distributed that season. He was 28 years old, in his fifth professional season, a third-round pick out of Eastern Washington, and he had the greatest individual receiving season any wide receiver had produced in the modern NFL era. 🏆 Super Bowl LVI — February 13, 2022 — SoFi Stadium — The Touchdown That Won the Championship

Super Bowl LVI took place on February 13, 2022, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California — the Rams' home stadium, making it the first Super Bowl in which a team played a home game in the championship. The Los Angeles Rams faced the Cincinnati Bengals in a back-and-forth game that came down to a fourth-quarter drive with the Rams trailing. Stafford drove the offense down the field, and with the game in the balance, he found Cooper Kupp for the go-ahead touchdown reception with 1:25 remaining. The Rams won 23-20. Kupp's game-winning touchdown catch — the conclusion of the individual season that had been the greatest at the position in a generation — completed what the 2021 season had promised. The 2017 Donruss Optic #18 The Rookies RC PSA 10 GEM MINT is the first-year card of the player who caught that touchdown. Condition: NOS.

📦 The 2017 Donruss Optic — The Rookies Insert — The Chromium Treatment

'The Rookies' is a named insert subset within Donruss Optic that focuses specifically on the most notable first-year players from the draft class. Kupp's card number in 'The Rookies' is #18.
