Vintage Graded 2023 Topps Now Anthony Volpe #22 Rookie RC Baseball Card PSA 10 Gem Mint – The Topps Now Rookie Card of the New Jersey Shortstop Who Arrived at the New York Yankees in 2023 as One of the Most Anticipated Homegrown Position Players the Organization Had Developed in Years, Documented in the Print-on-Demand Format That Captures Professional Milestones as They Happen, Graded PSA 10 GEM MINT

⚾ Topps Now is the print-on-demand card format that Topps introduced to document specific moments and milestones throughout the baseball season at the moment they happen – cards printed in limited quantities over a brief window, tied to a specific game, performance, or milestone, numbered sequentially through the calendar year in a format that gives collectors the ability to own the earliest possible paper documentation of a career moment rather than waiting for a traditional set to be released months after the event it captures. A Topps Now Rookie Card is a different kind of document from the traditional set-release Rookie Card – it is the snap of the shutter in the moment rather than the scheduled portrait, and card #22 in the 2023 Topps Now series captures Anthony Volpe in the earliest stage of the professional career that the New York Yankees organization had been tracking since they drafted him out of a New Jersey prep school with one of the first picks of the 2021 MLB Draft.

⚾ Anthony Volpe was born April 28, 2001, in Watchung, New Jersey, and attended Delbarton School in Morris Township, where he developed as a shortstop with the tools and the baseball intelligence that made the Yankees willing to invest their 30th overall pick in the 2021 draft on a high school player from their own geographic backyard. There is something particular about a New Jersey kid who grew up watching the Yankees play at Yankee Stadium being drafted by the team he watched, moved through the organization's farm system, and arrived at the major league level as the answer to the shortstop question that had followed the franchise since Derek Jeter's retirement. Volpe carried the full weight of that expectation when he arrived at spring training in 2023 and won the starting shortstop job for Opening Day, becoming the youngest shortstop to start the Yankees' season opener in decades.

⚾ The New York Yankees have produced some of the most iconic shortstops in the history of the position – a tradition that runs through Phil Rizzuto and Tony Kubek and into Derek Jeter, whose 20-year career at the position in the pinstripes built a legacy the sport had never seen from a shortstop in a single franchise. When Volpe arrived in 2023 and stepped into the same position in the same dugout, the baseball world was watching to see whether the next chapter of that tradition was beginning. The Topps Now format captured him at that exact moment – before the statistics had fully accumulated, before the career had taken its shape, at the start of what the organization and the collecting community believed was a significant professional beginning.

🏅 PSA 10 GEM MINT is the highest grade Professional Sports Authenticator issues – a designation that marks this card as presenting in the perfect-condition tier with four sharp corners, centered printing, and a surface free of any imperfections visible under examination. For a Topps Now card in PSA 10, the grade represents both the condition quality and the short-print nature of the Topps Now format, which produces limited quantities within a compressed window and does not reprint. Condition: NOS.
