Size: 3" ~ Factory sealed, little to no wear. ~ It is unknown if the adhesive still works, as that is usually the first thing to fail.
Metalical, a rare vintage 1960s Medical Caduceus Decal, is a highly collectible Item. Factory sealed. These are likely the last of their kind in the world, serving as a poignant reminder of a time when we celebrated our community and their contributions. It's a round gold foil emblem with a black winged caduceus up the middle, a big M and S on either side, and a ring of red and green blocks around the edge.
It is unknown if the adhesive still works, as that is usually the first thing to fail. It may require assistance, also known as glue, to affix.
It comes on the yellow METALICAL card, a card line that sold some of the very same designs as Embla Crest. The back of the card is plain.
Neat fact about this piece. And this is me, not AI. The caduceus was a symbol for Hermes, the Greek God, commerce, and negotiation throughout history. Somehow, in the USA, we got it confused with the Rod of Asclepius, which traditionally was a medical symbol but has only one snake and no wings. Even today, we still use these symbols interchangeably.
A big reason is the U.S. Army. Its Medical Department formally adopted the caduceus in 1902, with Captain Frederick P. Reynolds pushing for it, and that popularized the two snakes and wings all over American medicine, even though the true symbol of the healer is Asclepius's plain staff with its single snake.
The Embla Crest brand was recognized for producing high-end vintage decals as part of the Atlantic Emblem Company, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s, which was located in Walterboro, South Carolina. One of the Embla Crest cards prints the company's Walterboro name right under the Embla Crest banner.
It's a fun gift for a doctor, a medic, a nurse or anybody in medicine, and it looks great framed right on its card.
