Three Titles on One Poster? 🤖 Vintage 1976 Super Riders Belgian Movie Poster, Kamen Rider

Size: 14" x 22 in ~ Unused archive stock, little to no wear. I keep everything dark at a steady 72°F and under 40% humidity, so whatever age a poster shows, it had when it got here.

🐉 Three Titles, One Sheet

I love explaining this one because it's doing three things at once. Across the red title band under the artwork, bold and white, the French title: LES 3 FANTASTIQUES SUPERMEN. Beside it in quotes, the film's own name: "SUPER RIDERS." And down at the very bottom, in magenta for Belgium's Flemish readers: 3 FANTASTISCHE SUPERMEN. That's a Belgian affiche for you - no other country used this size, and the Belgians went all out with it. Between the size, the graphics, and how few of these survived, Belgian affiches like this one are a favorite among collectors, and I get why every time I look at this design.

🏍️ A Japanese Hero, Cut and Sold Three Ways

Here's the fun part of the story. In the mid-'70s Taiwan's Tong Hsing Film Company took Japan's Kamen Rider - Toei's masked motorcycle hero, a huge hit on Japanese TV - and made a handful of its own features out of him, recycling the Japanese fight scenes and shooting new footage around them. There were three of them, in 1975 and 1976, made in cooperation with Toei - and yet to this day Toei has never counted them among its official Kamen Rider films, which makes them the odd cousins of the whole family. Now look at the masks charging through the flames on this sheet: big red bug eyes, antennae up, a red scarf flying. Kamen Rider was designed to look like a grasshopper, and it shows. The red eyes mean the first two Kamen Riders, 1 and 2 - V3, who came later, switched to a vermilion mask with green eyes. That fits the third of the Taiwanese pictures, which was cut from Toei's 1972 films Kamen Rider vs. Shocker - where Riders 1 and 2 fight side by side - and Kamen Rider vs. Hell Ambassador. When Les Films du Dragon brought it into Belgium, they didn't sell it as a Kamen Rider picture at all - they hung the name "3 Supermen" on it, borrowed straight from the famous Italian franchise, while still keeping "Super Riders" printed right there in quotes so nobody was fully fooled. France got the same picture in 1978 as Les Fantastiques Supermen Chinois - everybody wanted a Superman on the marquee.

🎨 What's Actually on the Sheet

The artwork is chaos in the best way. In the middle a man in a white T-shirt and black belt throws a punch over a wall of orange fire, a guy in a red shirt goes flying, and masked riders with big red eyes roar in from the right on white-and-red motorcycles, one bike with a red chevron. SCOPE and COULEURS get their own credit on the red title band, next to the round Les Films du Dragon emblem, and down in the corner is the printer's own line - Edicolor, of Brussels.

🗄️ Where This One Comes From

This sheet comes from the archive of the now-defunct Cosmopolis Films, kept together as one collection since 2007. The sheet itself was printed during Les Films du Dragon's years in Belgium, somewhere between 1975 and 1988, and it's unused stock. I haven't seen another copy of this Belgian printing offered anywhere, so it's a rare one - and once these are gone, they're gone.
