🕰️ This is an original 1946 Crystal Lead Mines Company stock certificate, issued in Wallace, Idaho and associated with the historic Murray and Trout Creek mining districts of Shoshone County.

Although Crystal Lead Mines Company originally issued shares in 1944, this certificate represents a later re‑issue following a transfer of ownership. The original certificate was surrendered, and a new stock certificate was printed and issued in 1946, making this properly a 1946 stock certificate.

⛏️ During World War II and the immediate post‑war period, the United States experienced heightened demand for strategic metals such as lead and zinc, which were essential for ammunition, infrastructure, and military manufacturing. This demand led to the formation and reorganization of numerous small mining companies across the American West, particularly in historically productive regions like Idaho’s Coeur d’Alene Mining District.

Crystal Lead Mines Company was one of these speculative ventures. Rather than representing a major industrial producer, the company reflects the broader effort to revive older claims and explore marginal deposits in proven mining districts. Stock certificates like this were issued to raise capital from individual investors during a period when mining was viewed as both economically strategic and nationally important. 🇺🇸

Uncommon feature: This certificate includes the original transfer record attached, documenting the movement of shares between shareholders. Transfer stubs were often removed or lost over time, making intact examples increasingly uncommon. The presence of this transfer record adds historical depth and collector interest, offering insight into how mining shares were actively traded during the mid‑1940s.

This certificate stands as a tangible artifact of wartime finance, regional mining history, and the speculative nature of junior mining companies operating during the mid‑20th century.

Approximate size: Standard stock certificate format
Condition: Original vintage condition with transfer record attached
