Step back in time with this extraordinary Antique 1920s Uncle Sam Apples Crate Label, a true gem from the Roaring Twenties! packed by Wapato Fruit & Cold Storage Co. in Wapato, Washington, this label isn't just a pretty picture – it's a slice of American history you can hold in your hands!

Feast your eyes on the stunning design that'll make your heart swell with patriotic pride. The border alternates red apples on a leafy vine with pointed stars-and-stripes shields. It's like the Fourth of July and harvest season had a beautiful baby!

Measuring a generous 11" x 8 3/4" and boasting little to no wear, this label is in phenomenal condition. It's not just a collector's item; it's a time machine that'll transport you back to the golden age of American agriculture!

The Wapato Fruit & Cold Storage Company wasn't just any old business – it was the beating heart of Wapato, Washington's agricultural scene. Nestled at 200 North St, this powerhouse played a crucial role in storing and distributing the cream of the crop from the bountiful Yakima Valley. When you own this label, you're not just getting a pretty picture; you're claiming a piece of the American Dream!

This company wasn't just about apples – it was about people. It provided jobs to countless locals, becoming a pillar of the community. During harvest seasons, it was all hands on deck, creating a bustling hive of activity that brought the town to life. The company's top-notch storage and distribution services helped local farmers get their produce to market faster and fresher than ever before. No wonder Yakima Valley apples are considered some of the best in the world! In 2018, the company evolved into the Yakima Fruit & Cold Storage Co. after being acquired by the Hancock Natural Resource Group, but its legacy lives on in this incredible label.

Now, here's the kicker – these labels are vanishing faster than ice cream on a hot summer day! Once as common as apple pie, they're now rarer than a blue moon. The lithography process used to create these beauties is a lost art, involving intricate stone or metal plate designs that modern printing just can't match. It's like comparing a hand-painted masterpiece to a cheap print – there's simply no comparison!

Museums and art institutes are scrambling to get their hands on these labels, dedicating entire galleries to showcase their beauty and historical significance. By snagging this label now, you're not just following a trend – you're leading it! But don't wait too long; these labels are disappearing faster than you can say "apple pie"!

Owning this label isn't just about having a pretty picture on your wall. It's about connecting with the past, feeling the excitement of the Roaring Twenties, and experiencing a slice of Americana that's becoming increasingly rare. It's about holding a piece of history in your hands and feeling the weight of generations past. Now that's priceless!

Imagine this stunning piece of vintage advertising gracing your walls. It's not just decor; it's a conversation starter, a time portal, and a statement piece all rolled into one. Why settle for run-of-the-mill art when you can own a piece of history that'll make your guests green with envy? This label will add a touch of sophistication and nostalgia to any room, transforming your space from ordinary to extraordinary!

📋 What Is Printed On This Label

Every line of type on the sheet, transcribed from the label itself rather than paraphrased:

  • CONTENTS 40 LBS. NET (BLUE version)
  • ONE BUSHEL (BLUE version)
  • UNCLE SAM
  • BRAND
  • YAKIMA VALLEY
  • EXTRA FANCY (BLUE version only)
  • Apples
  • PACKED BY (BLUE version)
  • WAPATO FRUIT & COLD STORAGE CO.
  • WAPATO, WASH.
  • CONTENTS ONE BUSHEL BY VOLUME (RED and GREEN versions)

Printer: no lithographer's imprint, form number or plate code appears anywhere on this sheet. None is claimed here.

What is actually in the border. The top and bottom margins carry a continuous yellow band of ornament alternating red apples on a green leafy vine with pointed red-white-and-blue shields, each with a single white star on a blue canton. There is no top hat in the border. Uncle Sam is holding his pale star-banded hat in his right hand inside the central cartouche — he is not wearing it, and it appears once on the sheet.

Three colourways exist, and their printed text differs. The BLUE version carries CONTENTS 40 LBS. NET, ONE BUSHEL, the grade line EXTRA FANCY and PACKED BY above the packer name. The RED and GREEN versions drop all four of those and carry CONTENTS ONE BUSHEL BY VOLUME as a single line instead. All three share the same border and the same central portrait. Please ask which colourway is in stock if it matters to you — the printed text is not identical between them.

YAKIMA VALLEY is printed on the sheet as the district line above the product word, inside an ornate yellow shouldered-arch cartouche framing the portrait.
