🦸 Superman, Fists Up, Over the Skyline

This is a 1989 licensed Superman print, stock #K005, published by Norman James Co. Ltd. of Vancouver, B.C. Superman stands full-length, cape streaming out behind him, fists clenched, looking off past a dark city skyline against a yellow sky - the "SUPERMAN" logo in red 3-D block letters along the bottom. No artist is credited on the print. The back carries Norman James' shield logo, the company's Vancouver imprint, the stock number, and "TM & (c) DC Comics 1989. Used Under License." I love this pose - fists clenched, cape out, the whole city behind him. It's Superman the way a kid draws him.

Norman James was a Vancouver poster and print house that started up in 1986. In 1989, the same year as Tim Burton's Batman film, the company put out a numbered K-series of licensed DC and Marvel character prints - Wolverine (#K003), Batman (#K004), this Superman (#K005), Jack Nicholson's Joker from the Batman movie (#K002), and Spider-Man (#K011) among them. The same artwork also went out in a larger poster format under a matching 29xx numbering: this print's companion is Norman James' full-size Superman poster #2905. Norman James kept going into the 1990s, later putting out licensed NHL team posters - a 1991 Vancouver Canucks poster and a 1995 Pavel Bure/Alexander Mogilny "Dynamic Duo" print among them.
