Who Made Marshfield Whiskey? 🥃 Two Marshfield Straight Whiskey Labels, The American Liquor Company, Boston

Size: 4 1/2" x 4" ~ You get two vintage labels!

Patriotic and majestic eagle adorned in gold from this now defunct American company. This is a pair of antique 1930s Marshfield Straight Whiskey labels, bottled by the American Liquor Company of Boston, Massachusetts. A big gold spread-winged eagle perches on a blue "90 PROOF" ribbon across a red shield, MARSHFIELD arches over the top in tall brown letters edged in gold, and a gold ALCo seal hangs on a blue ribbon rosette at the side, all inside a shiny gold border. You can grab your two pieces and preserve history today and add to your home decor!

🏷️ What's Printed on Them

  • MARSHFIELD
  • 90 PROOF
  • CONTENTS ONE PINT
  • STRAIGHT WHISKEY
  • BOTTLED BY THE AMERICAN LIQUOR COMPANY, BOSTON, MASS.
  • ALCo (the seal)
  • W-1-2 (lower left) and R-20 (lower right)

Those little codes in the bottom corners are a clue to when these were made. After Prohibition ended in December 1933, the federal government put distillers and rectifiers under numbered permits, and from late 1934 code numbers had to appear on liquor bottles and labels. R stood for Rectifier, the kind of house that blended, bottled and sold spirits under its own brands, and D for Distiller. So R-20 marks a post-Repeal bottler, which fits the 1930s just fine.

🦅 The American Liquor Company

The American Liquor Company of Boston bottled more than one brand on labels just like these: Marshfield, American XXXX Straight Bourbon and Golden Days Straight Whiskey among them, and Marshfield came as a straight whiskey and a bourbon, in pints and in quarts. Those gold eagles and red shields were right in style for a country that had just gotten its whiskey back,. The company is long gone now, and so are most of its labels.

🏡 Display

As more vintage labels are lost to natural disasters and poor storage and the limited supply for sale is gone and on display with collectors or in galleries then they will be very difficult to acquire.

Imagine this vintage advertising hanging on your wall as home decor in your room! A matched pair like this looks great framed side by side in a home bar, a man cave or over a whiskey shelf, and it's a fun gift for anybody from Boston.

Returns & Exchange

Take your time — you've got a full six months. If a piece isn't right for you, send it back the way it reached you and we're good.

In the first 30 days your money goes straight back the way you paid. After that it's store credit, so you can put it toward something you'd rather have.

Return shipping we sort out between us, case by case. I don't make this difficult.

If something arrives damaged, or it isn't what I said it was, send me a photo within 48 hours and I'll make it right.

Email info@vintageantiquesgifts.com or call 802-356-9872 — that's me answering, not a call center.

The only things I can't take back are custom or special-order pieces and gift cards.

The labels were part of a Christmas gift for a friend with a vintage whiskey bar and collection. A big success. Thanks
