Description

Bring a burst of color and romance to your walls with this Antique Rose broom label 🌹 This is an original early‑ to mid‑20th‑century stock label, about 6" x 3½", printed in the U.S.A. and saved as new old stock—never glued to a broom or used. A richly shaded red rose and rosebuds climb diagonally across a geometric yellow‑and‑blue background, framed by a dark border that makes the colors pop.

Labels like this were used by broom makers between the 1910s and 1940s to catch your eye on store shelves. Instead of online ads, they relied on bright lithographed art you’d see from across the aisle—flowers, birds, and other nature motifs promising quality and care. This Rose design is a classic example: elegant, timeless, and surprisingly modern in its color blocking.

🧹 From quiet chores to bold graphics

In the first half of the 20th century, a good broom was a household staple, and broom labels were a simple way to create a “brand” for an otherwise ordinary tool. As electric vacuum cleaners became more affordable—especially after World War II—many small broom companies disappeared, and elaborate labels like this stopped being produced.

That’s why surviving unused labels are so appealing: they’re untouched pieces of commercial art from a world that’s gone.

🎨 Lithography as a lost art

Like fruit‑crate and cigar labels, broom labels were printed using multi‑color lithography, layering inks to get depth and shading that still look rich a century later. Many collectors and museums now treat them as miniature posters, celebrating the anonymous artists and print workers who rarely received credit.

By framing or crafting with this label, you’re helping keep that forgotten work alive—turning something once meant to be thrown away into lasting decor.
