The fruit is EMPERORS — the Emperor table grape — printed in large yellow caps left of centre. It is the only commodity word on the sheet, and until now it appeared in no title and no body on any island, which left a grape lug label reading as generic bridge art.

An Exchange device is printed dead centre: the red elliptical PACIFIC FRUIT EXCHANGE mark with two arced rules through it, captioned DISTRIBUTORS. Be precise — this is the Pacific Fruit Exchange, not the California Fruit Growers Exchange whose mark is Sunkist, and there is no tissue-wrapped fruit anywhere on this label.
