Some really cool history about this rare label: it was made by The Philadelphia Home for the Blind, which fulfilled most of the orders for the Army and Navy. Heading into WWI, they were absolutely flooded with demand for their brooms and mops from that client. You can find more history here: https://repository.upenn.edu/dissertations/AAI9101177/
The beautiful vibrant colors on this vintage label, used from 1900 to the 1940s, are amazing. Broom labels were a popular way of marketing brooms to stand out from the others. However, that changed when the vacuum cleaner became affordable to the middle class after WW2, causing most broom companies to go out of business.

Most of these artists were very talented but desperate for work during that era, receiving very little pay and no recognition for their work. Unfortunately, the majority of these artists will remain unknown, but we can keep their art alive forever.
