Description

🏈 Graded 1986 Topps Jerry Rice #161 Rookie RC Football Card PSA 7 Near Mint – A PSA 7 Near Mint Certified 1986 Topps Jerry Rice Rookie Card at #161, from the San Francisco 49ers Wide Receiver Who Holds the NFL All-Time Records for Receptions, Receiving Yards, and Touchdowns – A 38-Year-Old Card Certified at the Near Mint Standard by PSA

🏈 Jerry Rice came out of Mississippi Valley State University, an HBCU in Mississippi whose football program does not routinely produce top-20 first-round selections. What Rice's film from Valley State showed – once scouts accounting for the level of competition still agreed on what they were watching – was a wide receiver with the release off the line, the route-running precision, and the hands in traffic that translated directly from SWAC competition to the NFL. The San Francisco 49ers selected him in the first round of the 1985 NFL Draft, and his first professional season ended with a Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl XIX. What came across the next 15 seasons in San Francisco is the foundation of every conversation about the greatest wide receiver in NFL history: 1,549 receptions (most all-time), 22,895 receiving yards (most all-time), and 208 total touchdowns (most all-time in NFL history). Three Super Bowl championships arrived in Super Bowls XIX, XXIII, and XXIX – the XXIII game produced his Super Bowl MVP performance: 11 receptions, 215 yards, and a touchdown in a 20–16 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals that required a last-minute Joe Montana drive to finalize. Thirteen Pro Bowl selections, ten First-Team All-Pro designations, and Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in 2010 document a career whose statistical separation from every other wide receiver is not close in any meaningful category. This 1986 Topps card at #161 is the Rookie Card from his debut professional season – now more than 38 years old and still representing the earliest major-manufacturer entry point for the player who defined the position. Condition: NOS.

🏈 The 1986 Topps football set is one of the landmark sets in vintage football card collecting, featuring the 1985 draft class alongside established NFL stars of the mid-1980s era. At PSA 7 Near Mint, the Jerry Rice #161 achieves a solid collector-grade standard for a card approaching four decades of age: sharp overall appearance, near-perfect corners with minimal wear, edges that retain their integrity, and a surface that retains the visual quality of a well-preserved example. On a card from 1986, PSA 7 reflects the real-world conditions that most examples of this era did not survive at higher grades, and a certified example at any PSA grade represents meaningful preservation of an iconic Rookie Card.
