Imagine the stunning vintage boxing pugilist Americana decor, a visual masterpiece that will elevate the aesthetic of any room! This eye-catching label from the Golden Age of Boxing will transport you back to the gritty, glamorous world of 1930s prizefighting.

Crate Labels, a cherished relic of a bygone era, are now a rare and sought-after find. The impeccable lithography process used in their creation remains unmatched even today, showcasing vibrant colors and intricate details that pop off the paper. The demand for these labels is not just rising; it's soaring, and museums and art institutes are dedicating entire galleries to them. Once the limited supply is sold out and gracing the walls of collectors or galleries, they will be a challenging acquisition. Don't miss your chance to own a piece of American advertising history!

Picture this remarkable vintage advertising, a unique piece of history, adorning the walls of your home. Instead of being confined to a museum, it can bring a touch of nostalgia and unparalleled elegance to any room in your home. Imagine the conversations it'll spark as guests marvel at this authentic slice of 1930s Americana!

This Puggy Crate Label isn't just a decorative piece; it's a window into the past. The term "puggy" refers to the pugilistic world of boxing, evoking images of legendary fighters like Joe Louis, Max Baer, and Jack Dempsey. No guesswork needed — the artwork is right there in the photographs. At the left is a half-length naturalistic painted portrait of a boxer: bare-chested, dark hair combed back, scowling, both fists up in brown-tan laced gloves, maroon-and-pink trunks. It is a straight illustration, not a caricature. At the right, a boxing ring is drawn in thin pale-blue line-work in perspective, with a blank yellow panel resting on the canvas.

NOS, or New Old Stock, means this label is in incredible, unused condition - a true time capsule from nearly a century ago. Its near-perfect state makes it an absolute treasure for collectors of vintage ephemera, boxing memorabilia, or anyone passionate about preserving pieces of American cultural history.

At 13" x 3 1/2", this label is the perfect size to make a statement without overwhelming your space. It could be the centerpiece of a gallery wall, a striking addition to a home office, or the perfect touch in a man cave or sports den. Its long, narrow shape lends itself beautifully to framing, allowing you to protect and showcase this rare find for years to come.

Don't let this opportunity slip away! Vintage crate labels, especially those related to popular sports like boxing, are becoming increasingly scarce. As more labels find their way into private collections and museums, the chances of finding such a well-preserved specimen diminish. This Puggy Crate Label isn't just a purchase; it's an investment in a tangible piece of American advertising art and sports history.

🟨 The Blank Yellow Panel Is the Whole Story

Look at the panel sitting on the canvas inside the drawn ring. It is flat, unbroken yellow with a black drop shadow and no printed text at all — checked at 4x, with no ghost of type in it.

That panel is an unfilled imprint block, and it explains everything else that is missing from this sheet. The lithographer printed the design as stock and left that space empty for a shipper to have its own name struck in. This example never got one — which is exactly why the label carries no packer, no grower, no association, no town, no county, no state and no product word. It was never assigned.

It is also the likeliest reason a fragile sheet of gummed paper is still here in unused condition: labels that reach a packing house do not survive; labels that never leave the printer's or jobber's stack do.

The entire printed text of this label is three elements: PRODUCE OF U.S.A. at the top left, PUGGY in large open outlined block capitals with cream faces and a pale blue inner outline, and BRAND set vertically, reading bottom-to-top, up the right-hand edge alongside the Y. That is all of it — no net weight, no size, no grade, no count, no copyright line, no REG. U. S. PAT. OFF., no exchange affiliation and no lithographer's imprint; both bottom corners were cropped at 6x. The ground is deep royal blue with a solid orange-red band running the full width along the bottom edge.
