Remember Water Skier Metallic Decals? 🎿 Water Skier Metallic Decal, Sealed on Its Card

Size: 3 1/4" ~ Factory sealed, little to no wear. ~ It is unknown if the adhesive still works, as that is usually the first thing to fail.

These are likely the last of their kind in the world, serving as a poignant reminder of a time when we celebrated our community and their contributions. This one's pure summer: a blonde in a red bikini skimming across the waves on red skis, one arm flung out and the tow handle in the other, against a bright blue sky full of puffy white clouds, all inside a shiny metallic foil ring with WATER SKIER arched across the top in red.

It is unknown if the adhesive still works, as that is usually the first thing to fail. It may require assistance, also known as glue, to affix.

🏷️ What's Printed on It

  • WATER SKIER, in red on the foil ring
  • Card: METALICAL 49¢, CLEAN SURFACE, PEEL OFF, STICK ON
  • or card: EMBLA CREST, EASY TO APPLY-SELF-STICK, 49¢

The same decal came on two different hang cards, a METALICAL card in cream or yellow and a pink Embla Crest card, so the card you get can vary.

🌊 Two Boards and a Clothesline

Water skiing was invented in 1922, when Ralph Samuelson used a pair of boards as skis and a clothesline as a towrope on Lake Pepin in Lake City, Minnesota. His brother Ben did the towing, and Ralph worked out that leaning back with the ski tips up out of the water was the trick. He went from barrel staves to snow skis and then to his own wooden skis with leather bindings. The sport really took off after Dick Pope Sr. started the ski shows at Cypress Gardens in Winter Haven, Florida, and photographs of them ran in magazines all over the world in the 1940s and 1950s.

🏷️ Embla Crest

The Embla Crest brand was recognized for producing high-end vintage decals as part of the Atlantic Emblem Company, particularly during the 1960s and 1970s, which was located in Walterboro, South Carolina. One of the Embla Crest cards prints the company's Walterboro name right under the Embla Crest banner.

🏡 Display

It's a fun one for a lake house, a boat or a bait shop wall, and it looks great framed right on its card.

Returns & Exchange

Take your time — you've got a full six months. If a piece isn't right for you, send it back the way it reached you and we're good.

In the first 30 days your money goes straight back the way you paid. After that it's store credit, so you can put it toward something you'd rather have.

Return shipping we sort out between us, case by case. I don't make this difficult.

If something arrives damaged, or it isn't what I said it was, send me a photo within 48 hours and I'll make it right.

Email info@vintageantiquesgifts.com or call 802-356-9872 — that's me answering, not a call center.

The only things I can't take back are custom or special-order pieces and gift cards.
